– In photography, the golden hour (sometimes known as magic hour, especially in cinematography) is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day, when a specific photographic effect is achieved due to the quality of the light –
As I announced in a previous post, we went last Sunday to a little hotel about 100km from our studio on the country side. We photographed with Angela Blanche a real-real hot gothic fashion set with a touch of eroticism. We found the magic hour shortly before sunset when the lights are velvet soft. No need for any brightening or other lights only the available sun shine reflected from the sky and clouds.
The shooting was brilliant but we finished a little late, at about 9pm and the hotel where we planned to stay, closed at 8pm, because there have been no other guests. That meant 2 hours driving back to the town. Tired and hungry, so we went for a restaurant and managed to go home very late. There was no point to wake up again at 5am and go back to the hotel, where we wanted to shoot another set in the morning in the beautiful hotel’s garden. It obviously was not possible on Monday. We will go back on next Sunday, but book the room in time. Shoot again in the evening, but this time in the morning too.
